1. What We Do

irstats displays publicly available racing statistics from the iRacing online racing simulation service. We aggregate public race results, driver ratings, and series information to make them easier to browse and search.

2. Data We Collect

Racing Statistics (Public Data)

We store publicly available iRacing data including:

  • Driver display names and iRacing customer IDs
  • iRating, safety rating, and license class
  • Race results, finishing positions, and performance history
  • Country/region codes (as set in iRacing profiles)
  • Team names and memberships

This data is publicly available through the iRacing service and does not include email addresses, real names, or private contact information.

Driver Name Protection (EU/EEA/UK Drivers)

If your iRacing profile country is in the EU, EEA, or the United Kingdom, we protect your identity by default: your display name is shown in abbreviated form, and your full driver profile is only visible to signed-in visitors.

You can change this yourself at any time: sign in with your iRacing account and choose between Protected (the default) and Public in your account settings. Switching back to Protected takes effect immediately. If you prefer not to appear on the site at all, request removal via our contact form.

Account Sign-In (Optional)

Signing in is optional and uses iRacing's own sign-in (OAuth). We never see or store your iRacing password. When you sign in we store your iRacing customer ID, display name, sign-in timestamps, and the tokens needed to keep you signed in. This data is used only to operate your session and your profile visibility choice.

Analytics (EU Visitors: Consent Required)

For visitors in the European Union, European Economic Area, and the United Kingdom, we use Google Analytics (GA4) only after you provide consent via our cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google.

For visitors outside these regions, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. GA4 collects anonymized usage data including pages visited, time on site, and general device/browser information.

Geo-Location

We use MaxMind's GeoLite2 database to determine the country of incoming requests. This is used to:

  • Block traffic from certain regions for security purposes
  • Determine whether to show the cookie consent banner (EU/EEA/UK visitors)

IP addresses are processed in memory for this purpose and are not stored in our database or logged.

Local Storage

We store your theme preference (light/dark mode) and cookie consent choice in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For visitors subject to the GDPR, we process data under the following legal bases:

  • Legitimate interest — Displaying publicly available racing statistics and protecting the service from abuse (geo-blocking). For EU/EEA/UK drivers this is balanced by default name protection (see "Driver Name Protection" above)
  • Consent — Analytics cookies are only set after you opt in via the cookie consent banner; EU/EEA/UK driver profiles are only shown publicly with the full name after the driver chooses "Public" in account settings

5. Data Retention

Racing statistics are retained indefinitely as part of the historical record of public iRacing events. If you request deletion of your data, we will remove it within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

If you are an EU/EEA/UK resident, you have the right to:

  • Access your data — request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data from our systems
  • Object — object to processing of your data
  • Withdraw consent — for analytics, you can withdraw consent at any time by clicking "Cookie Settings" in the footer; for profile visibility, you can switch back to Protected at any time in your account settings

You can manage your profile visibility yourself in account settings (sign in with your iRacing account). To exercise any other right, please use our contact form and select "Data Deletion / GDPR Request" as the request type.

7. Children's Privacy

This website is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
